Angest VFX Reel

My contribution as a VFX artist for the game Angest. In this game I have worked mainly as a programmer, and only at the end I started doing effects.

This game was released for the Gear VR platform, which set a limitation for the graphics, as it is running on a smartphone. So, there are no post effects.

The most complex effect was the "broken lens vision" effect, in which I had to fake a lens blur. For that I used a render of the scenes on a cube map, and the same render again, but rendered on the glass mesh, also using a cubemap. With the controlls of the mipmap levels, I could blur the cubemap on the background, resulting on this clear vision through the glass, but blurred vision from behind.
